Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

• You have a site default page whose column contains a keyword. You have a second page whose column contains the same keyword. When you search for that keyword, the site default page does not appear in the search results. However, the second page does appear in the search results. The site default page appears only as a site in the search results.
  
  Note The site default page is also known as the site Welcome Page.
• You add many profiles in the User Profiles and Properties item in your Shared Services Provider (SSP). When you do this, the UserProfileEventLog table contains lots of records.
  
  When the User Profile Change Cleanup job runs, the SQL Transaction log may grow very large. If the SQL Transaction log runs out of hard disk space, the server that is running Microsoft SQL Server may run very slowly.
• Consider the following scenario:
  • You change the User permissions for Web application settings in the Application Management tab of the Central Administration Web site.
  • You revert these settings to their original values.
  • In a SharePoint Server 2007 Collaboration Portal site, you try to click the Related Link scope settings under Site Administration.
  In this scenario, you receive an error message that resembles the following error message:
  Error: Access Denied
• After you run a crawl, numeric metadata values that have more than seven digits are not indexed correctly. This issue occurs because digits that come after the seventh position are not indexed correctly.
  
  For example, the following values are stored in the document library:
  • 200227049
  • 200227050
  • 200227051
  After you run the crawl, the search results may display these values as "200227056" or as some other number whose last two digits are incorrect.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

This hotfix package is not replaced by any later hotfix package.

To use one of the hotfixes in this package, you do not have to make any changes to the registry.

This hotfix package may not contain all the files that you must have to fully update a product to the latest build. This hotfix package contains only the files that you must have to correct the issues that are listed in this article.

The global version of this hotfix package uses a Microsoft Windows Installer package to install the hotfix package. The dates and the times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) in the following table. When you view the file information, the date is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
