Known issues with this security update
- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 updates do not presume that an instance of SQL Server is intended to be enabled. By design, SQL Server updates do not enable an instance of SQL Server that is in a disabled state. Therefore, SQL Server updates leave the instance of SQL Server in the preupdate configuration state. For a SQL Server update to apply to an instance of SQL Server, the instance must be enabled.

SQL Server 2005 installers do not update an instance of the SQL Server service that is in a disabled state
- SQL Server 2005 updates that are not completed successfully may leave services that depend on the SQL Server service in a stopped state after installation. You must be aware of the services that depend on the SQL Server service before you install this update.

SQL Server 2005 installers stop dependent services
- If the SQL Server 2005 installation or the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition installation is an upgrade from an earlier version of SQL Server, you may receive the following error message when you try to uninstall SQL Server 2005 or
SQL Server 2005 Express Edition:
1731 The source installation package for the product [2] is out of sync with the client package. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package '[3]'.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
