SYMPTOMS

You record a Web test successfully in Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008 Service Pack 1 (SP1). However, when you play back the test, the user authentication fails. Then, you are redirected to the logon page. Additionally, the following information appears in the Visual Studio IDE:
  • The HTTP Status column shows "200 OK."
  • The Web Browser tab shows the following error message:
Request failed: Unable to read data from the transport connection: The connection was losed.
  • The Details tab shows the following error message:
System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: The connection was closed.
    at System.Net.ConnectStream.EndRead(IAsyncResult asyncResult)
    at Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.WebStress.DataCaptureStream.EndRead(IAsyncResult asyncResult)
    at Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.WebStress.WebTestTransaction.ReadResponse(IAsyncResult result)
Notes
  • The user credentials are authenticated when you surf the Web site without using the Web test.
  • This problem occurs when the Web site uses the WebResponse.close method.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because a System.IO.IOException exception occurs on the first Web test request. Then, the connection is closed. Therefore, the cookie is not set for the second Web test request, and then the Web test fails.
