SYMPTOMS

If you open a commercial signed or encrypted message, the public key infrastructure (PKI) Medium Grade password dialog box appears. If you click Cancel in this dialog box, the dialog box reappears many times. If you have DMS extensions loaded, you must click Cancel four times. If you have turned off DMS extensions, you must click Cancel two times.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft Windows 2000

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article.
