Works Error Message: ...This Application Cannot Display the End User License Agreement (EULA)This article was previously published under Q255875 The first time you start one of the programs listed at the
beginning of this article, you may receive an error message similar to the
following: This application cannot display the end user
license agreement (EULA). This behavior can occur in Works 7 and Works 2003 if one or
more of the following files is absent or damaged: NOTE: These files are located in either of the following folders: cd-rom:\Common\MSShared\WkShared\Retail
-or-
cd-rom:\Common\MSShared\WkShared - Eula.txt
- St03eula.txt
- St03warr.htm
- Wks7eula.txt
- Wks7warr.htm
- Eularegn.dll
- Wkernlng.dll
This behavior can occur in Works 2000 and Works 2001 if one or
more of the following files is absent or damaged:
- Eula.txt
- Eulareg.dll
- Wks5eula.txt
- Wks6eula.txt
- Wks6warr.htm
- St02eula.txt
- St02warr.htm
To resolve this issue, copy the absent or damaged files
from the installation CD-ROM to the Works Shared folder on your hard disk:
Works 7.0 and Works Suite 2003- Insert the appropriate CD-ROM for your version of Microsoft
Works into your CD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key when you insert
the CD-ROM to prevent the program from starting automatically.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type the appropriate line for your version of Works, and
then click OK:
Works 7.0:
cd-rom:\Common\MSShared\WKShared
Works Suite 2003:
cd-rom:\Common\MSShared\WKShared
where cd-rom is the drive letter of
your CD-ROM drive. - Click to select the Eularegn.dll file, and then press and hold down the CTRL key as you click to
select the Wkernlng.dll file.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type the following line (including the quotation marks), and
then click OK
"drive:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\Works Shared" where drive is the drive letter of the
hard disk on which Microsoft Windows is installed. - On the Edit menu, click Paste.
If you are prompted to overwrite the files, click Yes. - Close the Works Shared window, and then close any other windows that exist.
- In the Open box, type the appropriate line for your version of Works, and
then click OK.
Works 7.0 CD-ROM: cd-rom:\common\MSShared\WKShared\retail Works Suite 2003 Disc 1 CD-ROM: cd-rom:\MSWorks\common\MSShared\WKShared\retail where cd-rom is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive. - Click to select the st03eula.txt file, and then press and
hold down the CTRL key as you click to select the Wks7eula.txt, st03warr.htm,
and the wks7warr.htm files.
- Click Edit, and then copy.
- Repeat steps 5-8, and copy the files into the following
folder:
drive:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Works Shared
Works 6, Works Suite 2000, and Works Suite 2001- Insert the appropriate CD-ROM for your version of Microsoft
Works into your CD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key when you insert
the CD-ROM to prevent the program from starting automatically.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type the appropriate line for your version of Works, and

Works 2000 Standard CD-ROM and Works 6 CD-ROM:

Works Suite 2000 Disc 2 CD-ROM and Works Suite 2001 Disc 1 CD-ROM:
cd-rom:\MSWorks\common\MSShared\WKShared
where cd-rom is the drive letter of
your CD-ROM drive. - Click to select the Eulareg.dll file, and then press and hold down the CTRL key as you click to
select the Wks5eula.txt file.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type the following line (including the quotation marks), and
then click OK

your Works version, and then click OK:
Works Suite 2000
"<drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft Works Suite 2000\Setup"
where <drive> is the drive letter of the hard disk on which
Microsoft Works is installed.

Works Suite 2001
"<drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft Works Suite 2001\Setup"
where <drive> is the drive letter of the hard disk on which
Microsoft Works is installed. - On the Edit menu, click Paste.
If you are prompted to overwrite the file, click Yes. - Close all open windows.
