SYMPTOMS

When you access compressed content by using Windows Internet Explorer 6, the browser window stops responding (hangs).

This issue occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • Security update 974455 (MS09-054) or security update 976325 (MS09-072) for Windows Internet Explorer is installed on the computer.
  • HTTP 1.1 is enabled on the computer.

RESOLUTION

Security update information

To resolve this problem, install the most current cumulative security update for Internet Explorer. To install the most current updates, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com)
