Conditional formatting rules are duplicated when you copy and then paste cells in Excel 2007
In Microsoft Office Excel 2007, you apply conditional
formatting to cells. When you copy and then paste the cells, the conditional
formatting rules are duplicated even though the rules already exist in the
cells.

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
- Apply the following hotfix:

Description of the Excel 2007 hotfix package (Excel-x-none.msp, Xlconv-x-none.msp): August 25, 2009
- Set the ReplaceCFOnPaste registry entry. To do
this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click
Run, type regedit, and then click
OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Options
- On the Edit menu, point to
New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type ReplaceCFOnPaste, and then
press ENTER.
- Right-click ReplaceCFOnPaste, and then
click Modify.
- In the Value data box,
type 1, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.
