Search results are truncated to 10 items in the search alert e-mail message when you enable search alerts for a Web application in SharePoint Server 2007
In Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, you enable
search alerts for a Web application. If you upload more than 10 documents that
contain the term that you are
searching
for, you only see 10 items in the search alert e-mail message.
This
means that the alert processing functionality truncates the search results to only
10 items in the search alert e-mail
message.
To resolve this issue, apply the following update:
970948Â
(http://kbalertz.com/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=970948/
)
Description of the SharePoint Server 2007 Cumulative Update Server Hotfix Package (Coreserver.msp): June 30, 2009
After you apply this update, call the
public void
UpdateAlertNotificationQuota(int) method from
the
searchContext object for
a particular SharePoint site
to increase the search alert quota.
Limitation
A
large quota of
search results in a search alert e-mail
message
may decrease
performance
in the following areas:
- On the network
- On the computer's hard disk
- In a related Microsoft SQL Server environment (during the results-fetching process)
- On e-mail servers
Note A large quota may increase the size of the e-mail message
by about 1 kilobyte per result returned
Also, the
quota must
be changed for each SharePoint site.
Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
in the "Applies to" section.
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
