Consider the following scenario. You collect data on the following performance counters on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista.In this scenario, you collect incorrect data. For example, the value of the "SMB2 NonBlocking 0" counter is extremely high (approximately 4,294,967,200). Therefore, you cannot monitor accurately the status of the server.

The Server service maintains some queues for client connections that use the Server Message Block (SMB) 2.0 protocol. However, the counts of these queues are not managed very well when connection information is moved across these queues. This behavior causes the incorrect updates of queue counts. In the scenario that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section, the SMB 2.0 performance counters increase incorrectly to extremely high values.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. File information
