You are prompted to enter your logon ID and password when you use Internet Explorer to open a SharePoint site on a Windows Essential Business Server

SYMPTOMS

When you use Internet Explorer 7.0 or a later version of Internet Explorer to open a SharePoint site on a Windows Essential Business Server (EBS), Internet Explorer prompts you to enter your logon ID and password, even when you have permissions for the site.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Internet Explorer Enhanced Security is enabled on the EBS computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Options, click Security, and then click Local Intranet.
  3. Add the URL of the SharePoint internal site to the local intranet site list.

APPLIES TO
  • Windows Internet Explorer 7
  • Windows Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP
  • Windows Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.

Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
