On a server that is running Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1), you create an index in a database by using the Serbian Latin collation or the Serbian Cyrillic collation.
Note The database can be any database that supports the Serbian Latin collation or the Serbian Cyrillic collation. For example, Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 supports these collations.
After you install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 on the server, you cannot obtain correct data by using this index.
This problem occurs because the sorting behavior for the Serbian Latin collation and for the Serbian Cyrillic collation was changed in Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2. However, the National Language Support (NLS) version for these collations was not updated in the collation table. This causes the index to be corrupted.
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
