A graphic image changes unexpectedly when you copy it from Excel 2003 to another Office 2003 program in a spanned RDP session
Consider the following scenario:
- You log on to a remote computer.
- The desktop of the remote computer spans multiple monitors.
- You use the Copy Picture command to copy a graphic image from Microsoft Office Excel 2003.
Then, you use the Paste Special command to paste the graphic image to another Office 2003
program.
In this scenario, the graphic image changes unexpectedly.
To fix this problem, follow these steps:
- Apply hotfix 956834.

Description of the Excel 2003 hotfix package: August, 2008
- Enable the hotfix by setting the RDPUsePrinterMF registry entry.
To have us enable the hotfix for you, go to the "Fix it for me" section. To enable the hotfix yourself, go to the "Let me fix it myself" section.
Fix it for me
To enable the hotfix automatically, click the
Fix it
button or link. Click
Run
in the
File Download
dialog box, and then follow the steps in the Fix it wizard.

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
To do this, follow
these steps:
- Click Start, click
Run, type regedit in the
Open box, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Excel\Options
- On the Edit menu, point to
New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type RDPUsePrinterMF, and then
press ENTER.
- Right-click RDPUsePrinterMF, and then
click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type
1, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.
- Check whether the problem is fixed by pasting the graphic image to another Office 2003
program. If the graphic image is unchanged, you are finished with this article. If the problem is not fixed, you can contact support
