Error message when you view the "Email Administrator" action on an Application Center 2000 controller: "Action failed"
On a Microsoft Application Center 2000 controller, the Health Monitor feature displays a critical condition for the "Email Administrator" action. You may receive an error message that resembles the following:
Action failed. View the system32\wbem\logs\wbemess.log for more information.
You may also receive an error message that resembles the following in the Wbemess.log file:
(daydatetime) : Consumer provider CDOEmailEventConsumer does not
support IWbemUnboundObjectSink: error code 80004002
(daydatetime) : CDOSYS threw an exception!
(daydatetime) : Unable to send message: 0x8004100A
(daydatetime) : Failed the second attempt to deliver an event to event
consumer CDOEmailEventConsumer.{GUID} with error
code 8004100A. This event is dropped for this consumer.
(daydatetime) : Dropping event destined for event consumer
CDOEmailEventConsumer.{GUID} in namespace
root\cimv2\MicrosoftHealthMonitor
Note By default, the Wbemess.log file is located in the \System32\WBEM\Log folder.
This problem may occur if the "Email Administrator" action is configured incorrectly.
To resolve this problem, configure the "Email Administrator" action by using valid e-mail settings. To do this, follow these steps:
- Start Application Center 2000.
- Expand Health Monitor, and then expand All Monitored Computers.
- Expand the computer that you want, and then expand Actions.
- Right-click Email Administrator, and then click Properties.
- Click the Details tab. Configure the settings for the "Email Administrator" action, and then click OK.
Notes- You may have to configure the SMTP service or the e-mail server to relay messages.
- You may have to type a valid e-mail address in the From field if this setting is required by the e-mail server or by an e-mail security program on the e-mail server.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
