You have an
application that is shipped by an independent software vendor (ISV) partner on
a Windows Vista-based computer or on a Windows Server 2008-based computer. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition is shipped together
with the application. When you install the application, SQL Server 2005 Express
Edition cannot pass the Windows logo certification.

Note Because the builds are cumulative, each new fix release contains
all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the
previous SQL Server 2005 fix release. Microsoft recommends that you consider

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 hotfixes are created for specific SQL
Server service packs. You must apply a SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 hotfix to
an installation of SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2. By default, any hotfix that
is provided in a SQL Server service pack is included in the next SQL Server
service pack.

This hotfix embeds a User Access Control manifest file to
each .exe file that is included in the installation .cab file of SQL Server
2005 Express edition. Therefore, applications that embed
SQL Server 2005 Express Edition can
now pass Windows logo certification.
