Error message when you create checks by using the Manual Payroll feature in Accounting Professional or in Accounting Express: "An error occurred during payroll check creation"

SYMPTOMS

When you create checks by using the Manual Payroll feature in Microsoft Dynamics Accounting Professional or in Microsoft Dynamics Accounting Express, you receive the following error message:
An error occurred during payroll check creation. Payroll Liabilities: This Financial account is specified as the liability account of a tax agency and can only be used for tax related transactions.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when a liability account that is used in the Manual Payroll feature is associated with a tax agency.

RESOLUTION

To resolve the problem, follow these steps:
1.Start Accounting Professional or Accounting Express.
2. On the Employees menu, point to Manual Payroll, and then click Enter Manual Payroll.
3.Enter the start date in the Period Start Date field, enter the end date for the payroll period in the Period End Date field, and then click OK.
4. Click Step 2 - Set Up Taxes & GL.
5.Note the accounts in the Post to this account column.
6. Close the ManualPayrollCalculation window.
7. On the Vendors menu, point to Vendor Lists, and then click Vendors.
8. Right-click a tax agency vendor, and then click Open Selected Items.
9. Verify that the Liability account field is not set to an account that you viewed in step 5.
10. Repeat step 8 through step 9 for each tax agency.

Note If a tax agency is using the liability account that you viewed in step 5, select another account in the Liability account field for the tax agency.
Note If you prefer, you can change the liability account to another account that is not associated with a tax agency in the Manual Payroll feature.
