Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

Consider the following scenario:

• In Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services, you create an Analysis Services cube the name of which contains double-byte character set (DBCS) characters.
• In Microsoft Office Excel 2007, you create a connection to the Analysis Services cube, and then you save the connection information in an Office Data Connection (ODC) file.
• You publish the ODC file to the Data Connection Library on a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 site.

In this scenario, Excel Services in SharePoint Server 2007 may be unable to connect to the Analysis Services cube by using the ODC file.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
