Action
You set up a new PC from a Microsoft Windows PC image or perform a System Restore on your Microsoft Windows PC. This PC uses Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and Team Explorer and you are developing solutions that are stored in Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) source code control (SCC). The solutions contain multiple projects. After the restore you GET LATEST from TFS and then open your solution in Microsoft Visual Studio.

Result
You encounter error messages similar to the following:
“Some projects have been unloaded, do you want to load them from source control?â€
“XXX.vcproj cannot be found in XXX folderâ€
Back to the top
Cause
The most likely cause of these errors is a corrupted Microsoft Visual Studio Solution file.

Resolution
Create a new Microsoft Visual Studio solution for your development project which will replace the one in TFS SCC. If this does not resolve the issue however, try deleting the client cache directory for Team Foundation Server. In actual fact this should be done anyway after a PC system restore or re-image on a PC that uses Microsoft Team Explorer for TFS and is enlisted in a source controlled project. That directory is located here:
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Team Foundation\
Delete the entire 1.0 directory (for Team Explorer 2005) or 2.0 (for Team Explorer 2008).

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
