SYMPTOMS

On a computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2), you run Microsoft Outlook in cached mode, or you move an e-mail message to a .pst file. When you do this, the body of the e-mail message is truncated.

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • The body of the e-mail message exceeds 32 KB.
  • Hotfix 948744 is applied on the Exchange Server 2003 SP2-based computer.

Note This problem affects version 6.5.7653.29 to version 6.5.7653.35 of the Store.exe file.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites

You must have Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 installed to apply this hotfix.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

However, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service, the Microsoft Search service, the IIS Admin service, and all dependent services must be restarted when you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix does not replace a previously released hotfix.
