On This Page

SYMPTOMS

You perform an in-place or gradual upgrade from an earlier version of GroupBoard Workspace to GroupBoard Workspace 2007. However, when the upgrade is complete, you receive the following error message:
Upgrade completed with errors. Review the upgrade.log file located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\Logs\Upgrade.log. The number of errors and warnings is listed at the end of the upgrade log file.
When you view the Upgrade.log that mentions the error message, you notice that error messages that resemble the following are logged:
[SPSiteGbwSequence] [ERROR] [2007/10/26 10:41:46 PM]: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.
Parameter name: index
[SPSiteGbwSequence] [ERROR] [2007/10/26 10:41:46 PM]: at System.ThrowHelper.ThrowArgumentOutOfRangeException(ExceptionArgument argument, ExceptionResource resource)
When this error occurs, upgrade process of GroupBoard Workspace site ends in an incomplete state. Therefore, some GroupBoard-specific lists, such as "Schedule and Reservations," are not functional.

How to deploy software updates for GroupBoard Workspace 2007

To deploy the update for GroupBoard Workspace 2007, use one of the following methods, depending on whether you selected Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 or Office SharePoint Server 2007 as your upgrade type.

Caution Before you follow these steps, you must restore your server to a state before your previous upgrade, where SharePoint and GroupBoard are installed and functional. This update program cannot fix the corrupted GroupBoard Workspace sites that are in an incomplete state because of this error.

Method 1: Your SharePoint Upgrade type is "in-place upgrade"

  1. Complete the upgrade process for the SharePoint product by running the SharePoint Products and Technology Configuration Wizard. This wizard appears automatically after you install of Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 or Office SharePoint Server 2007.
  2. Install GroupBoard Workspace 2007.
  3. Double-Click the update program file that downloaded to your local hard disk. Double-click the MSP file that you extracted from the .exe file, and follow the instructions.
  4. At command prompt, type the following commands. Press ENTER after each command.
    cd %CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\BIN
    stsadm.exe –o upgrade –inplace

Method 2: Your SharePoint Upgrade type is "Gradual upgrade"

  1. Complete the process on the Central Administration SharePoint site. To do this, run the SharePoint Products and Technology Configuration Wizard. This wizard appears automatically after you install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 or Office SharePoint Server 2007.
  2. Open the SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration site, and then click the Operations tab. In the Upgrade and Migration section, click the Site content upgrade status link.
  3. Click the Begin upgrade link. This link appears next to the URL for the earlier version.
  4. On the Set Target Web Application page, provide the required information, and then click OK.
  5. At command prompt, type the following commands, and then press ENTER after each command.
    cd %CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\BIN
    stsadm.exe –o upgrade –sidebyside –url <url> -sitelistpath <Path for XML file>
For the -url parameter, specify the Web application URL that you want to upgrade. For the -Sitelistpath parameter, specify the path for an XML file that lists site collections of the upgrade target. You may want to save the XML file because it is necessary later in this procedure.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc288400.aspx (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc288400.aspx)

  7. Double-click the update program file that downloaded to your local hard disk. Double-click the MSP file that you extracted from .exe file, and then follow the instructions.
  8. Repeat step 5. By doing this, the upgrade process starts for each GroupBoard Workspace sites on the server.
