SUMMARY
The Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 provides cumulative roll-up updates for customer-reported issues that were found after the release of the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. Additionally, this service pack provides security improvements, prerequisite feature support for the .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1, and prerequisite feature support for the .NET Framework 3.5.
We recommend that you do not block the installation of this service pack. However, if you have a compelling business reason to do this temporarily in environments where the Automatic Updates feature is enabled, you can modify the registry by using the method that is mentioned in the "More information" section.
Note Organizations do not have to modify the registry in environments that are managed by using an update management solution such as Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003. Organizations can use these products to fully manage the deployment of updates that are released through Windows Update and through Microsoft Update.
MORE INFORMATION
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
Supported operating systems
- Windows XP Service Pack 2
- Windows Server 2003
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4
Instructions

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
