You are directed to an English Web site even though you created the Web site in a different language in SharePoint Server 2007

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You install the English version of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Additionally, you install some language packs. You create a My Site Web site by using a language other than English. Then, you click Details on the My Site Web site. In this scenario, you are directed to an English Web site. The URL of the English Web site resembles the following:
http://ServerName:port/_layouts/EditProfile.aspx
Note The correct URL of the non-English My Site Web site resembles the following:
http://ServerName:port/personal/YourLoginAlias/_layouts/EditProfile.aspx

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply hotfix 948947. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
948947  (http://kbalertz.com/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=948947/ ) Description of the SharePoint Server 2007 hotfix package: February 21, 2008

MORE INFORMATION

You can run the following command to select different locales for links:
stsadm -o mysite -title SSP_name -usemysitelanguage Num
The value for the Num placeholder can be either 0 or 1.
  • A value of 0 means that the link uses the locale that the My Site host uses.
  • A value of 1 means that the link uses the locale that the created My Site page uses.
Note The new localization is performed on a timer task. Therefore, you must wait for several minutes before you view the linked pages.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.

Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
