How to back up and restore the registry in Windows XP and Windows Vista
SYMPTOMS
You install the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Management Pack on a computer that is running Microsoft Operations Manager 2005. When you try to monitor performance data on a 64-bit computer that is running Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 or Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, the performance counters do not return data.
CAUSE
This issue occurs when the 32-bit version of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Management Pack performance counters have not been registered on the 64-bit computer that is running SharePoint Server 2007 or Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
RESOLUTION
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
To resolve this issue, register the 32-bit version of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Management Pack performance counters on the 64-bit computer that is running Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. To do this, follow these steps:
- Copy the x64 version of the Onetnative.dll file to the Windows\system32
folder.
- Copy the x86 version of the Onetnative.dll file to the Windows\syswow64
folder.
- Locate the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Windows SharePoint Services Performance Monitoring\Performance
- Right-click Library, and then click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type Onetnative.dll, and then click OK.
- Delete the Disable Performance Counters registry subkey if it exists.
To enable the SharePoint Server 2007 performance counters from a 32-bit process or from a 64-bit process, follow these steps:
- Copy the x64 version of the Microsoft.office.server.native.dll file to the Windows\system32
folder.
- Copy the x86 version of the Microsoft.office.server.native.dll file to the Windows\syswow64
folder.
- Locate the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Office Server Performance Monitoring\Performance
- Right-click Library, and then click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type Microsoft.office.server.native.dll, and then click OK.
- Delete the Disable Performance Counters registry subkey if it exists.
APPLIES TO
