INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to manually remove the following programs:
  • Microsoft Office Accounting Professional 2008 or Microsoft Office Accounting Express 2008
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005

MORE INFORMATION

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.

To manually remove these programs, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: On a Windows XP-based computer

  1. Exit all programs.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.
  3. In the "Add or Remove Programs" window, click Microsoft Office Accounting 2008, and then click Change/Remove.
  4. In the Microsoft Office Accounting 2008 Setup wizard, click Remove, and then click Next.

Note By default, the Microsoft Office Accounting 2008 check box and the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express (MSSMLBIZ) check box are selected. This indicates that these programs will be removed.
  5. Click Next, and then click Remove.
  6. Click to select the Microsoft Office Small Business Connectivity Components check box, and then click Remove.

Note If you use SQL Server 2005 for other programs, do not perform steps 7 through 9.
  7. Click to select the Microsoft SQL Server Native Client check box, and then click Remove.
  8. Click to select the Microsoft SQL Server Setup Support Files (English) check box, and then click Remove.
  9. Click to select the Microsoft SQL Server VSS Writer check box, and then click Remove.
  10. Locate the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents directory, and then delete the "Shared Companies" folder.
  11. Locate the C:\Documents and Settings\User_name\My Documents directory, and then delete the "Small Business Accounting" folder.
  12. Repeat step 11 for each user name.

Note The "Small Business Accounting" folder may not exist.

    • Office Accounting 2008
    • Office Accounting 2008 Addins
    • Small Business Loader

      2. Locate the following registry subkey:
        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSMLBIZ\Setup
      3. In the right window pane, note the x value in the SQLPath registry entry. This value indicates the folder that you must delete.
