SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • User accounts in an Active Directory directory service domain are configured to use roaming profiles.
  • The Delete cached copies of roaming profiles Group Policy setting is enabled
  • On a computer in the domain, a user visits a cookie-enabled Web site, and then logs off the computer.
  • The same user logs on to the computer again and then visits the same Web site again.
In this scenario, two or more cookie files for this Web site exist in the "Temporary Internet Files" folder. The names of the cookie files resemble the following:
  • cookie:user@website[1].txt
  • cookie:user@website[2].txt
However, there should be only one cookie file for this Web site.

Note This issue occurs in the following products:
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows XP
  • Windows Server 2003
  • Internet Explorer 6
  • Windows Internet Explorer 7
  • Windows Server 2008
