INTRODUCTION
This article describes how to copy customized template files from one computer to another computer in the following products:
- Microsoft Office Accounting Professional 2008
- Microsoft Office Accounting Express 2008
- Microsoft Office Accounting Professional 2007
- Microsoft Office Accounting Express 2007
- Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006
MORE INFORMATION
If you want to use a customized template on more than one computer, you must save the customized template on each computer separately. No option exists to share all the templates from one shared location. Therefore, you must copy the customized templates from one computer to another computer by moving the Templates folder that contains the customized templates. To do this, follow these steps:
- Install one of the following programs on the computer to which you want to copy the customized templates:
- Accounting Professional 2008
- Accounting Express 2008
- Accounting Professional 2007
- Accounting Express 2007
- Small Business Accounting 2006
- Locate the Templates folder that contains the customized templates. By default, the Templates folder is in the following location:
- Accounting Professional 2008 and Accounting Express 2008:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Templates\Office Accounting 2008\Templates
- Accounting Professional 2007 and Accounting Express 2007:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Templates\Office Accounting 2007\Templates
- Small Business Accounting 2006:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Small Business\Small Business Accounting\Templates
Note If you install Accounting Professional or Accounting Express on a computer that is running Windows Vista, the Templates folder is in one of the following locations: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Templates\Office Accounting 2008\Templates
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Templates\Office Accounting 2007\Templates
Note If you cannot locate the Templates folder, the Templates folder may be hidden. To find the hidden Templates folder, follow these steps:
- Right-click Start, and then click Explore.
- Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
- On the View tab, click Show hidden files and folders.
- Click OK.
- Copy the Templates folder. To do this, use the appropriate method:
- If the computers are networked, copy the Templates folder on the original computer to the new computer.
- If the computers are not networked, copy the Templates folder to a disk, and then take the disk to the new computer.
- Save the files that you copied, as follows:
- In Accounting Professional 2008 and in Accounting Express 2008, save the files in the following location:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Templates\Office Accounting 2008\Templates
- In Accounting Professional 2007 and in Accounting Express 2007, save the files in the following location:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Templates\Office Accounting 2007\Templates
- In Small Business Accounting 2006, save the files in the following location:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Small Business Accounting\Templates
- Start the accounting program that you are using.
- On the Company menu, click Manage Word Templates.
- Verify that the customized templates that you copied from the original computer are available on the new computer.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
