Some SharePoint timer job definitions are not restored successfully when you back up a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Web application or a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Web application, and then you restore this application to a new farm
SYMPTOMS
When you back up a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Web application or a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Web application, and then you restore this application to a new farm, some SharePoint timer job definitions are not restored successfully.
CAUSE
This issue occurs when timer job definitions that are associated with a Web application are not successfully created during a restore.
RESOLUTION
This issue is resolved by Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix 941422. To resolve this issue, update to that version of Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, and then backup and restore your Web application. Or, follow the steps in this section.

Description of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package: January 31, 2008
To resolve this issue, before you restore the backup to the new farm, you must manually create a new Web application in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 or in Office SharePoint Server 2007. To do this, you must use the same name as the Web application that is contained in the backup. When you do this, the following Windows SharePoint Services timer job definitions are created automatically:
- Change Log (SPChangeLogJobDefinition)
- Database Statistics (SPDatabaseStatisticsJobDefinition)
- Dead Site Delete (SPDeadSiteDeleteJobDefinition)
- Disk Quota Warning (SPDiskQuotaWarningJobDefinition)
- Immediate Alerts (SPImmediateAlertsJobDefinition)
- Recycle Bin (SPRecycleBinCleanupJobDefinition)
- Usage Analysis (SPUsageAnalysisJobDefinition)
- Workflow (SPWorkflowJobDefinition)
- Workflow Auto Cleanup (SPWorkflowAutoCleanJobDefinition)
- Workflow Failover (SPWorkflowFailOverJobDefinition)
After you manually create the Web application, you can restore your backup. The restored data resides under the existing Web applications that you created.
If you have Office SharePoint Server installed, you must start the following Office SharePoint Server-specific timer job definitions. To do this, use the information in the corresponding Workaround column.

Scheduled Unpublish (UnpublishJobDefinition) | Create a new Publishing Portal site collection in the target farm. This automatically creates the timer job definition. Then, delete the temporary Publishing Portal site collection that you created. The timer job definitions will remain active.
