On This Page

SYMPTOMS

When you try to open a company in Microsoft Office Accounting Express 2007 or in Microsoft Office Accounting Professional 2007, you may receive the following error message:
Could not find stored procedure sproc_version.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if one or more of the following conditions are true:
  • The company (.sbc) file that you are trying to open is pointing to a company database that was integrated with Business Contact Manager (BCM).
  • The company file that is pointing to the company database was used before the company database was integrated with Business Contact Manager (BCM).
  • The company database is in a state that is being recognized as invalid.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use one or more of the following methods.

Note Use method 1 first. If you cannot resolve the problem by using method 1, go to method 2.

Method 1: Create a new company (.sbc) file

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office, point to Microsoft Office Accounting 2007 Tools, and then click Data Tools.
  2. In the Microsoft Office Accounting Data Unities dialog box, click Rebuild.
  3. In the Rebuild Company File dialog box, select a company database.

Note If the company database is version 1.0.0000.0, this company database is invalid. The company database is invalid because this company database was integrated with BCM. Therefore, you should select a valid company database.
  4. Click Rebuild.
  5. In the Select Company File dialog box, type a new company file name in the File name box, and then click Save.
  6. Click OK.
  7. In the Rebuild Company File dialog box, click Close.
  8. In the Microsoft Office Accounting Data Utilities dialog box, click Close.
  9. Start Office Accounting Professional 2007 or Office Accounting Express 2007, and then use the company file that you created in step 5.

Method 2: Detach and then attach the company database

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office, point to Microsoft Office Accounting 2007 Tools, and then click Data Tools.
  2. On the Advanced Tools tab, click Detach.
  3. Select the company database, and then click Detach.
  4. Click Yes.
  5. Click Close to close the Detach a Database dialog box.
  6. In the Microsoft Office Accounting Data Utilities dialog box, click Attach.
  7. Click Browse.
  8. Select the company file, and then click Open.
  9. In the Attach a Database dialog box, type the name that you want to use for the company file in the Database Name field, and then click Attach.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Click Close to close the Microsoft Office Accounting Data Utilities dialog box.
  12. Start Accounting Professional 2007 or Accounting Express 2007.
  13. Click Open Existing Company.
  14. Select the company file that you created in step 9, and then click Open.
