On This Page

SYMPTOMS

You import or export a site collection to a server that is running Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. After you do this, you may see duplicate entries in the View Reports feature.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when you use the Publishing Portal template.

RESOLUTION

How to obtain the hotfix

This issue is fixed in the SharePoint Server 2007 and SharePoint Server 2007 for Search post-2007 Office servers Service Pack 1 Hotfix Package that is dated January 31, 2008. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
941274  (http://kbalertz.com/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=941274/ ) Description of the SharePoint Server 2007 and SharePoint Server 2007 for Search post-2007 Office servers Service Pack 1 hotfix package: January 31, 2008
This hotfix resolves this problem for new SharePoint Server 2007 site collections.

Notes
  • When you apply the hotfix, only approved or published documents are imported. Drafts and documents that are pending approval are not imported.
  • This hotfix does not resolve this problem for an imported site collection. You may have to import the site collection again after you apply the hotfix.
  • You may still see duplicate entries if you import the site collection multiple times. To prevent duplicate entries after you apply the hotfix, use one of the following procedures:
    • Deploy the content after changes have been made to the site collection.
    • Start by importing a blank site collection, and then deploy the content to the site collection after new content has been added or after changes to existing content have been made.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

APPLIES TO

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.
