INTRODUCTION

When you install Microsoft Application Center 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2), the installation process also installs a named instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (also known as MSDE 2000) Service Pack 3a (SP3a). You cannot upgrade this named instance of MSDE 2000 SP3a to SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4).

Critical security updates are still available for the Application Center MSDE instance SQL Server 2000 SP3a (MSAC).
