software update on a computer that is running Microsoft Forefront for
SharePoint together with one of the following:
- Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
- Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0
MORE INFORMATIONBefore you install a service pack or a software updateBefore
you install a service pack or a software update for SharePoint Server
2007 or for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, we recommend
that you contact Microsoft Customer Support Services to make sure that the
currently installed version of Forefront Security for SharePoint supports the
service pack or the software update that you want to install. For a

information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site: How to install a service pack or a software updateImportant When you run the command to disable the Forefront Security
services from SharePoint in the following steps, Forefront Security for
SharePoint will no longer use enhanced virus protection to scan for
viruses. To install a service pack or a software update, follow these
steps.
- Create a full system backup for each SharePoint Application
server and Web Front End server. If it is required, we recommend that you
contact the SharePoint Support team for more information.
- Perform an SQL backup for all SharePoint databases in the
SQL cluster. If it is required, we recommend that you contact the SharePoint
Support team for more information.
- Steps 3a through 3f are only required if you install a
service pack or a software update that directly affects the SharePoint
antivirus functionality:
- Click Start, point to All
Programs, click Microsoft Forefront Server Security,
click SharePoint Security, and then click Forefront
Server Security Administrator.
- Under Settings in the navigation bar,
click ScanJob.
- Click the Configure SharePoint/WSS Antivirus
Settings link. This will take you the SharePoint Central
Administration Web page.
- Click Operations.
- Under Security Configuration, click
Antivirus.
- Click to clear all the check boxes, and then click
Save.
Important After you click Save, SharePoint virus
protection is disabled.
- Stop the SharePoint server services and the Forefront
Security services. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click
Run, type services.msc, and then click
OK.
- Right-click the following services, and then click
Stop:
- FSCController
- FSCStatisticsService
- FSSPController
- IISAdmin
Note When you stop the IISAdmin service, this stops both the HTTP SSL
service and the World Wide Web Publishing Service.
- Click Start, click Run,
type cmd, and then click OK.
- At the command prompt, locate the "Forefront Security for
SharePoint" folder. By default, the "Forefront Security for SharePoint" folder
is in the following folder, depending on the operating system:
- At the command prompt, type the following command to
disable the Forefront Security service, and then press ENTER:
Fscutility /disable
After you run this command, you receive the following
message:Microsoft Forefront Server Security VSAPI
hooking dll is disabled.
Status: Microsoft Forefront Server Security
NOT Integrated Note This command removes Forefront dependencies from the SharePoint
server. - To make sure that the Forefront Security services are
disconnected from the SharePoint server, type the following command, and then
press ENTER:
Fscutility /status - In the Services MMC snap-in, right-click
World Wide Web Publishing Service, and then click
Restart. This restarts both the IISAdmin service and the HTTP
SSL service.
- Install the SharePoint service pack or the SharePoint
software update.
- Before you restart the Forefront services, test to make
sure that SharePoint is working correctly. If you encounter any issues, contact
the SharePoint support team for more information.
- In the Services MMC snap-in, right-click IISAdmin
Service, and then click Stop. This stops both the
HTTP SSL service and the World Wide Web Publishing Service service.
- To start the Forefront Security service, locate the
"Forefront Security for SharePoint" folder. At the command prompt, type the
following command, and then press ENTER:
Fscutiliy /enable After you run this command, you receive the following message:
Microsoft Forefront Server Security VSAPI hooking dll
is enabled.
Status: Microsoft Forefront Server Security successfully
integrated! - In the Services MMC snap-in, right-click the following
services in the order that is presented, and then click Start:
- World Wide Web Publishing
Service
Note When you start this service, this starts both the IISAdmin
service and the HTTP SSL service. - FSCController
- FSCStatisticsService
- FSSPController
- On the SharePoint Central Administration Web page, click
Operations.
- Under Security Configuration, click
Antivirus.
- Click to select the check boxes that are appropriate for
your situation, and then click Save.
Important After you click Save, SharePoint virus
protection is enabled.
