INTRODUCTION

  • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
  • Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

MORE INFORMATION

Before you install a service pack or a software update

Before you install a service pack or a software update for SharePoint Server 2007 or for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, we recommend that you contact Microsoft Customer Support Services to make sure that the currently installed version of Forefront Security for SharePoint supports the service pack or the software update that you want to install.

For a complete list of Microsoft Customer Support Services telephone numbers and for information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

How to install a service pack or a software update

Important When you run the command to disable the Forefront Security services from SharePoint in the following steps, Forefront Security for SharePoint will no longer use enhanced virus protection to scan for viruses.

To install a service pack or a software update, follow these steps.
  1. Create a full system backup for each SharePoint Application server and Web Front End server. If it is required, we recommend that you contact the SharePoint Support team for more information.
  2. Perform an SQL backup for all SharePoint databases in the SQL cluster. If it is required, we recommend that you contact the SharePoint Support team for more information.
  3. Steps 3a through 3f are only required if you install a service pack or a software update that directly affects the SharePoint antivirus functionality:
    1. Click Start, point to All Programs, click Microsoft Forefront Server Security, click SharePoint Security, and then click Forefront Server Security Administrator.
    2. Under Settings in the navigation bar, click ScanJob.
    3. Click the Configure SharePoint/WSS Antivirus Settings link. This will take you the SharePoint Central Administration Web page.
    4. Click Operations.
    5. Under Security Configuration, click Antivirus.
    6. Click to clear all the check boxes, and then click Save.

Important After you click Save, SharePoint virus protection is disabled.
  4. Stop the SharePoint server services and the Forefront Security services. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.
    2. Right-click the following services, and then click Stop:
      • FSCController
      • FSCStatisticsService
      • FSSPController
      • IISAdmin

Note When you stop the IISAdmin service, this stops both the HTTP SSL service and the World Wide Web Publishing Service.
  5. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
  6. At the command prompt, locate the "Forefront Security for SharePoint" folder. By default, the "Forefront Security for SharePoint" folder is in the following folder, depending on the operating system:
    • On x86-based computers:
      \Program Files\Microsoft Forefront Security\SharePoint
    • On x64-based computers:
      \Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Forefront Security\SharePoint
  7. At the command prompt, type the following command to disable the Forefront Security service, and then press ENTER:
    Fscutility /disable
After you run this command, you receive the following message:
Microsoft Forefront Server Security VSAPI hooking dll is disabled.

Status: Microsoft Forefront Server Security NOT Integrated
Note This command removes Forefront dependencies from the SharePoint server.
  8. To make sure that the Forefront Security services are disconnected from the SharePoint server, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    Fscutility /status
  9. In the Services MMC snap-in, right-click World Wide Web Publishing Service, and then click Restart. This restarts both the IISAdmin service and the HTTP SSL service.
  10. Install the SharePoint service pack or the SharePoint software update.
  11. Before you restart the Forefront services, test to make sure that SharePoint is working correctly. If you encounter any issues, contact the SharePoint support team for more information.
  12. In the Services MMC snap-in, right-click IISAdmin Service, and then click Stop. This stops both the HTTP SSL service and the World Wide Web Publishing Service service.
  13. To start the Forefront Security service, locate the "Forefront Security for SharePoint" folder. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    Fscutiliy /enable
After you run this command, you receive the following message:
Microsoft Forefront Server Security VSAPI hooking dll is enabled.

Status: Microsoft Forefront Server Security successfully integrated!
  14. In the Services MMC snap-in, right-click the following services in the order that is presented, and then click Start:
    1. World Wide Web Publishing Service

Note When you start this service, this starts both the IISAdmin service and the HTTP SSL service.
    2. FSCController
    3. FSCStatisticsService
    4. FSSPController
  15. On the SharePoint Central Administration Web page, click Operations.
  16. Under Security Configuration, click Antivirus.
  17. Click to select the check boxes that are appropriate for your situation, and then click Save.
