A new rule is not applied as expected when you run the Microsoft Best Practices Analyzer for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 tool
SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario:
- You run the Microsoft Best Practices Analyzer for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 tool.
- A new rule is added to the "best practices" rules file.
In this scenario, the new rule is not automatically applied to the network topology in which you are running Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the Microsoft Best Practices Analyzer for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 tool does not include an auto-update feature.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, install the January 22, 2008 update for the Microsoft Best Practices Analyzer for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and for the 2007 Microsoft Office system.
