The default templates are not applied when you deploy them in Antigen 9.0 for Exchange or Forefront Server Security for Exchange

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Antigenstarter.exe command-line tool or the Antigen Enterprise Manager (AEM) for Antigen 9.0, or the FSCStater.exe command-line tool or the Forefront Server Security Management Console (FSSMC) for Forefront to deploy default templates, the templates are not applied to any of the Antigen 9.0 or Forefront scan jobs.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if Antigen 9.0 for Exchange or Forefront Server Security for Exchange is configured to use no templates instead of being configured to use the default templates.

When you configure Antigen 9.0 or Forefront to use no templates, the templates are only made available and are only associated with the scan jobs when you use the Antigenstarter.exe/FSCStarter.exe command-line tool or the AEM/FSSMC to deploy the default templates.

To apply the default templates as soon as you deploy them, click Default instead of None in the Antigen or Forefront Administrator program.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Start the Antigen or Forefront Administrator program.
  2. In the left navigation pane, click SETTINGS, and then click Templates.
  3. Under TEMPLATE SETTINGS, click a scan job.
  4. In the Template list, click Default.
  5. Click Save to save the changes.

MORE INFORMATION

The Antigenstarter.exe command-line tool is included with Antigen 9.0 for Exchange to apply templates to each Antigen scan job. The FSCStarter.exe command-line tool is included with Forefront Server Security for Exchange to apply templates to each Forefront scan job.

For more information about the syntax for applying templates by using the command-line tool see the Microsoft Antigen for Exchange User Guide or the Forefront Server Security for Exchange User Guide.

You can also apply templates by using the AEM or FSSMC. For more information about how to use the AEM and FSSMC, see the Microsoft Antigen for Exchange User Guide.

You can also apply templates by using the AEM or FSSMC. For more information about how to use the AEM and FSSMC, see the Microsoft Antigen Enterprise Manager User Guide.
