INTRODUCTION
An incorrect version of the System.Data.SqlClient.dll file is included with Microsoft Windows CE Platform Builder 5.0 and with Microsoft Windows CE Platform Builder 4.2.

The version of the System.Data.SqlClient.dll file that is included with Windows CE Platform Builder 5.0 and with Windows CE Platform Builder 4.2 is version 1.0.3226.0.
The correct version of the System.Data.SqlClient.dll file is version 1.0.4294.0. Version 1.0.4294.0 of the System.Data.SqlClient.dll file is included with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.
To install the correct version of the System.Data.SqlClient.dll file, install the file that is included with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. By default, this file is located in the following folder:
Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SmartDevices\SDK\CompactFramework\2.0\v1.0\WindowsCE
