An add-in program is not available as a menu option, or you receive an error message when you click an add-in menu option, in Accounting Professional or in Accounting Express

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office Accounting Professional or in Microsoft Office Accounting Express, you may experience one of the following problems:
  • An add-in program is not available as a menu option. Or, an add-in program is not displayed in the Manage Add-in Packs window.
  • When you click an add-in menu option, you receive the following error message:
    The Add-in you are trying to open has been deleted, or is unavailable for some other reason. You can repair the Add-in by unregistering it using the Add-in manager on the File/Utilities menu. You can then reinstall the Add-in. If the problem persists, contact the Add-in publisher.
This problem occurs if you use one of the following add-in programs:
  • Fixed Asset Manager
  • PayPal Payments
  • Equifax Credit Profile
  • ADP Payroll Add-in
  • Tax Integration Add-in

CAUSE

This problem may occur for one of the following reasons.

Cause 1

The add-in program is not enabled in the Manage Add-in Packs dialog box. See Resolution 1 in the "Resolution" section.

Cause 2

Some installation files are not attached in the add-in program. See Resolution 2 in the "Resolution" section.

Cause 3

The add-in files are not installed when Accounting Professional is installed or when Accounting Express is installed. See Resolution 3 in the "Resolution" section.

Cause 4

The add-in program has been removed by using Add or Remove Programs. See Resolution 3 in the "Resolution" section.

RESOLUTION

Resolution 1: Enable the add-in program

  1. On the File menu, point to Utilities, and then click Add-in Packs.
  2. If the add-in program that you want to use is not listed in the Manage Add-in Packs dialog box, click Cancel, and then go to Resolution 2.
  3. In the Enabled column, click to select the check box for the add-in program that you want to enable. Then, click OK.
  4. If you are informed that the program must be restarted, click OK.
  5. On the File menu, click Exit.
  6. Restart Accounting Professional, or restart Accounting Express.

Resolution 2: Locate the add-in programs that are ready to be added

  1. On the File menu, point to Utilities, and then click Add-in Manager.
  2. Click Install New.
  3. In the Look in field, locate the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Small Business\Small Business Accounting Addins
  4. If the folder for the add-in program that you want to add is not listed, click Cancel. Then, go to Resolution 3.
  5. Use one of the following steps, depending on the add-in program that you want to add.
    • Fixed Asset Manager
      In the "Fixed Asset Manager" folder, click the FAMUI.dll file.
    • PayPal Payments
      In the PayPal folder, click the PayPal.dll file.
    • Equifax Credit Profile
      In the Equifax folder, click the ReportingAddin.dll file.
    • Tax Integration Add-in
      In the Tax folder, click the Taxaddin.dll file.
  6. Click Open.
  7. In the Enabled column, click to select the check box for the add-in program that you want to use. Then, click OK.
  8. If you are informed that the program must be restarted, click OK.
  9. On the File menu, click Exit.
  10. Restart Accounting Professional, or restart Accounting Express.

Resolution 3: Install the add-in program that you want to use

To do this, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Install the add-in program from the installation CD

  1. Close Accounting Professional, or close Accounting Express.
  2. Insert the Accounting Professional installation CD into the CD drive. Or, insert the Accounting Express installation CD into the CD drive.
  3. If the Setup wizard is displayed, click Cancel, and then click Yes.
  4. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
  5. Right-click the CD drive, and then click Open.
  6. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
  7. On the View tab, click to clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box in the Advanced settings pane.
  8. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  9. Use one of the following steps, depending on the add-in program that you want to install.
    • Fixed Asset Manager
      Open the FAM folder.
    • PayPal Payments
      Open the PayPal folder.
    • Equifax Credit Profile
      Open the Equifax folder.
    • ADP Payroll Add-in
      Open the ADP folder.
  10. Use one of the following steps, depending on the add-in program that you want to install.
    • Fixed Asset Manager
      Double-click the Microsoft Fixed Asset Manager.msi file.
    • PayPal Payments
      Double-click the Microsoft Office Accounting PayPal Addin.msi file.
    • Equifax Credit Profile
      Double-click the Microsoft Office Accounting Equifax Addin.msi file.
    • ADP Payroll Add-in
      Double-click the Payapi.msi file.
  11. Follow the instructions in the Setup wizard to install the add-in program.
  12. Start Accounting Professional, or start Accounting Express.
  13. On the File menu, point to Utilities, and then click Add-in Packs.
  14. In the Enabled column, click to select the check box for the add-in program that you want to enable. Then, click OK.
  15. If you are informed that the program must be restarted, click OK.
  16. On the File menu, click Exit.
  17. Restart Accounting Professional, or restart Accounting Express.
Note The Tax Integration add-in program is not available on the installation CD for Accounting Professional or for Accounting Express. However, you can download this add-in program. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Method 2: Install the add-in program without the installation CD

  1. Close Accounting Professional, or close Accounting Express.
  2. Visit the following Microsoft Web site:
    http://ideawins.com/ (http://ideawins.com/)
  3. Type an e-mail address in the Your Email box, and then click Submit.
  4. Click the Click here to start your download now! hyperlink.
  5. In the File Download - Security Warning dialog box, click Save.
  6. Select a folder where you want to save the file, and then click Save.

    Note The size of the download file is 208 megabytes (MB).
  7. Locate the folder where you saved the file in step 6 earlier in this section. Then, extract the MOA7024Express.exe file to the same folder.

    Note There are many applications that can be used to extract files. These applications may be installed on the computer. For example, you can use WinZip. To use WinZip, right-click MOA7024Express.exe, point to Open with WinZip, and then click Extract to.
  8. In the folder to which the files are extracted, click Folder Options on the Tools menu.
  9. On the View tab, click to clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box in the Advanced settings pane.
  10. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  11. Use one of the following steps, depending on the add-in program that you want to install.
    • Fixed Asset Manager
      Open the FAM folder.
    • PayPal Payments
      Open the PayPal folder.
    • Equifax Credit Profile
      Open the Equifax folder.
    • ADP Payroll Add-in
      Open the ADP folder.
  12. Use one of the following steps, depending on the add-in program that you want to install.
    • Fixed Asset Manager
      Double-click the Microsoft Fixed Asset Manager.msi file.
    • PayPal Payments
      Double-click the Microsoft Office Accounting PayPal Addin.msi file.
    • Equifax Credit Profile
      Double-click the Microsoft Office Accounting Equifax Addin.msi file.
    • ADP Payroll Add-in
      Double-click the Payapi.msi file.
  13. Follow the instructions in the Setup wizard to install the add-in program.
  14. Start Accounting Professional, or start Accounting Express.
