Error message when you try to connect to ADP Payroll in Accounting Professional 2007 or in Accounting Express 2007: "Your computer time and date are off and need to be set correct before trying to synchronize with payroll"

SYMPTOMS

When you try to connect to the ADP Payroll service in Microsoft Office Accounting Professional 2007 or in Microsoft Office Accounting Express 2007, you receive the following error message:
Your computer time and date are off and need to be set correct before trying to synchronize with payroll.
Additionally, after you sign in to ADP Payroll, the buttons and the other elements on the tab pages in the "Payroll powered by ADP" window do not respond.

You may also receive the following error message when you try to log on to ADP Payroll in Microsoft Office Accounting 2007:
Data synchronization error, please ensure that you have the correct time set.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the date and time settings of the computer that you are using have been manually changed. Therefore, the computer settings cannot be synchronized with the date and time settings in ADP Payroll.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, set the date and time of the computer to the correct date and time settings that are in ADP Payroll.

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. To open Date and Time Properties, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Date and Time.
  2. In the Date area, click in each box to set the correct date.
  3. In the Time area, enter the correct time.
  4. Click Apply.
  5. Click OK.
