Error message when you try to save an invoice in Accounting Professional 2007 or in Accounting Express 2007: "The number on the Invoice (Number1) has already been used. The number has been changed to Number2"
SYMPTOMS
When you try to save an invoice in Microsoft Office Accounting Professional 2007 or in Microsoft Office Accounting Express 2007, you receive the following error message:
The number on the Invoice (Number1) has already been used. The number has been changed to Number2.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
- You changed the default document number in the invoice to a document number that is smaller than the default document number. Or, you changed the default document number to a document number that already exists.
- You did not select the Allow duplicate document numbers check box in the Company Preferences dialog box.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
- On the Company menu, click Preferences.
- In the Company Preferences dialog box, click the Company tab, click to select the Allow duplicate document numbers check box, and then click OK.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
