SYMPTOMS

A Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0-based application that uses COM interop stops responding because of a deadlock. This issue occurs when garbage collection tries to begin.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. To obtain the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article.
