Cached Exchange Mode is enabled in Outlook 2007 even though you set the "Do not use Cached Exchange Mode for all new Outlook profiles" setting in the Office Customization Tool
SYMPTOMS
You set the
Do not use Cached Exchange Mode for all
new Outlook profiles setting in the Office Customization Tool (OCT).
However, Cached Exchange Mode is enabled when you start Microsoft Office
Outlook 2007.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the information in the Outlk12.adm
file and in the Outlk12.opa file is incorrect.
RESOLUTION
This problem is corrected in an updated set of ADM and OPA files that are provided in the 2007 Office system Administrative Template files (ADM, ADMX, ADML) and Office Customization Tool version 2.0 package. To download this package, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
To correct this problem in the Office customization tool, follow these steps:
- Download and install the 2007 Office system Administrative Template files (ADM, ADMX, ADML) and Office Customization Tool version 2.0 package.
- When you are prompted during the installation, select an empty folder to extract the files.
Note One of the folders that are created in that location contains additional files and folders that replace the \Admin folder on the original installation source. - Copy the \Admin folder from the folder to which the files are extracted to the original 2007 Office system installation source. When you are prompted to overwrite the existing files and folders, click Yes to all.
To make sure that this setting is made correctly, the name of this setting within the OCT has been changed from
Do not use Cached Exchange Mode for all new Outlook profiles to
Use Cached Exchange Mode for new and existing Outlook profiles.
To locate the setting within the OCT, follow these steps:
- Start the OCT. To do this, click Start, click Run, type Office installation CD\setup /admin, and then click OK.
- In the Select Product dialog box, click OK.
- In the navigation pane, click Modify user settings in the Features area.
- Expand Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, expand Account Settings on the Tools menu, expand Exchange, and then click Cached Exchange Mode.
