When you configure the
Disables the shortcut
key setting in the Office Customization Tool (OCT), the default
behavior of the setting is unchanged. You can still press CTRL+ENTER to send an
e-mail message in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. Additionally, you may receive
the following message when you press CTRL+ENTER in Outlook 2007:
You pressed CTRL + ENTER.
Do you want to use CTRL + ENTER
as a keyboard shortcut for sending a message?
This problem occurs because the information is incorrect in
the Outlk12.adm file and in the Outlk12.opa file.
To resolve this problem, modify the Outlk12.opa file in
Notepad. To do this, follow these steps.
Note If you plan to deploy settings to the client in the initial
deployment, and you do not plan to use policy settings to enforce those
settings after deployment, you must modify only the .opa file. If you do not
plan to deploy settings to the client in the initial deployment, and you will
use policy settings to enforce settings after deployment, you must modify only
the .adm file. If you want both the deployment of initial settings and the
enforcement of those settings after deployment, you must modify both the .opa
file and the .adm file. We recommend that you modify both the .opa file and the
.adm file to avoid possible errors.
- Open the Outlk12.opa file in Notepad.
Note The Outlk12.opa file is located in the
Admin\language folder of the original product image
on the volume license 2007 Microsoft Office products that include Microsoft
Office Outlook 2007. Before you modify this file, make a backup copy of the
original file. - After you open the file in Notepad, locate the line of text
that begins with the following:
POLICY
!!L_Disablestheshortcutkey - Below
this policy, the registry path, ValueName, and value assignments are incorrect.
Locate the following text:
KEYNAME
Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\DisabledShortcutKeysCheckBoxes
VALUENAME CtrlEnter VALUEON 13,8 VALUEOFF 0
Replace this text with the following text:
KEYNAME Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Preferences PART
!!L_Disablestheshortcutkey DROPDOWNLIST VALUENAME CtrlEnterSends ITEMLIST NAME
!!L_CtrlEnterDisabled VALUE NUMERIC 0 NAME !!L_CtrlEnterEnabled VALUE NUMERIC 1
NAME !!L_CtrlEnterPrompt VALUE NUMERIC 2 DEFAULT END ITEMLIST NOSORT END
PART
- Under
the Strings section, paste the following text above the line that starts with
"L_DisablestheshortcutkeyExplain":
L_CtrlEnterDisabled="CTRL+Enter
is disabled as a shortcut for sending a message"
L_CtrlEnterEnabled="CTRL+Enter is enabled as a shortcut for sending a
message"
L_CtrlEnterPrompt="CTRL+Enter displays the prompt" - Save and
close the file.
Notes- These changes must be repeated for each language
version that is used.
- The steps to modify the Outlk12.adm file are similar
for the Outlk12.opa file. However, modify the path from
Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\DisabledShortcutKeysCheckBoxes
to
Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Preferences.
