If the Request Forwarding feature is enabled on a computer that is running Microsoft Application Center 2000, the following symptoms may occur.
- If Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 is running on the computer, an access violation occurs in the W3wp.exe process.
- If IIS 5.0 is running on the computer, an access violation occurs in the Inetinfo.exe process.
Note By default, the Request Forwarding feature is enabled in Application Center 2000.
Note The frequency of the access violation in the W3wp.exe process or in the Inetinfo.exe process increases when the number of the requests that the request forwarder forwards increases.
This problem occurs because an access violation occurs when the request forwarder tries to generate a 502.1 error. The request forwarder tries to generate the 502.1 error when a typical connection is reset.
