This article describes the Microsoft Office 2003 issue that is fixed in the Office 2003 post-Service Pack 2 hotfix package for the Office 2003 Proofing Tools that is dated March 12, 2007.

Issue that the hotfix package fixes
This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
You use the
Use German post-reform rules option when you check the spelling of German-language text in an Office 2003 program. If a word contains a single vowel at the beginning of the word or at the end of the word, the word may unexpectedly be hyphenated at the single vowel.
For example, if the German-language text contains the word
Abend, the word may unexpectedly be hyphenated as in the following example:
A-bend
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
