MORE INFORMATION

Error message 1 and error message 3

This behavior may occur if the following conditions are true:
  • The SoftGrid Virtual Application Server service cannot connect to the database. Verify that the database server is available and that the database server is listening. For example, verify that the MSSQLSERVER service is started.
  • The Windows account that is specified as the SoftGrid Account Authority is misconfigured. For example:
    • The account does not exist.
    • The account is disabled.
    • The account is locked out.
    • The account has expired.
    • The account is configured to use the User must change password at next logon option.
    • The account is entered incorrectly in the properties of the SoftGrid Account Authority.
    • The account password is entered incorrectly in the properties of the SoftGrid Account Authority.
    • The account is not in the same Windows domain or is not in a trusted Windows domain of the SoftGrid Virtual Application server.
To verify the SoftGrid Account Authority, follow these steps:
    1. In Administrative Tools, start the SoftGrid Management Console.
    2. Expand SoftGrid Systems, expand server_name, and then expand Account Authorities.
    3. Double-click the account authority.
    4. Verify that the information in the User Name box is valid.
    5. Type the password in the Password box, and then type the password in the Re-enter Password box.
    6. Click OK.
    7. In the The SoftGrid Virtual Application Server services must be restarted before they will use the new setting box, click OK.
    8. Start the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server service.
To verify the Windows account, follow these steps:
    1. From the Windows domain, verify that the account exists.
    2. Verify the following:
      • The account is enabled.
      • The account is not locked out.
      • The account is not expired.
      • The account is not configured to use the User must change password at next logon option.
    3. Retype the password.
  • The SoftGrid Virtual Application Server service log on account has not been granted the "Act as part of the operating system" local security policy. By default, the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server service log on account is the Local System (SYSTEM) account. Error message 2

This behavior may occur if the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server computer name starts with a numeric character. Because of the XML requirements of the Server.conf file and the Manager.conf file, the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server computer name must start with an alphabetical character.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft SoftGrid for Terminal Services
  • Microsoft SoftGrid for Windows Desktops
