CAUSE
This problem occurs because one of the following conditions is true:
- The SoftGrid Virtual Application Server has not been added to a server group.
- The SoftGrid Virtual Application Server DNS host name is incorrect.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods, depending on which condition is true.
The SoftGrid Virtual Application Server has not been added to a server group
You must determine whether the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server has been added to a server group, and then you must add the server if it is necessary. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the SoftGrid Management Console Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.
- Expand SoftGrid Systems, expand ServerName, and then expand Server Groups.
- Click Default Server Group, and then review the servers that are listed for the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server.
- If the server is listed, stop here. This condition is not true. If the server is not listed, go to step 5.
- Right-click Default Server Group, and then click New SoftGrid Virtual Application Server.
- In the Display Name box, type HostName SoftGrid Virtual Application Server.
- In the DNS Host Name box, type the fully qualified domain name (FQDN), the NetBIOS name, or the IP address.
- Click Finish.
- Exit the SoftGrid Management Console MMC snap-in.
The DNS host name is incorrect
To determine whether the DNS host name is incorrect and to correct the name if it necessary, follow these steps:
- Open the SoftGrid Management Console Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.
- Expand SoftGrid Systems, expand ServerName, and then expand Server Groups.
- Click Default Server Group.
- Right-click SoftGrid Virtual Application Server, and then click Properties.
- Click the General tab.
- Review the value of the DNS Host Name box for the DNS host name (FQDN), the NetBIOS name, or the IP address.
- If the DNS host name is correct, stop here. This condition is not true.
Note: If the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server is version 3.x, the DNS host name must contain the NetBIOS name.
If the DNS host name is incorrect, go to step 8. - In the DNS Host Name box, type the DNS host name (FQDN), the NetBIOS name, or the IP address.
- Click OK.
- When you are prompted to restart the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server service, click OK.
- Exit the SoftGrid Management Console MMC snap-in.
- Open the Services MMC snap-in.
- Right-click SoftGrid Virtual Application Server, and then click Restart.
- Exit the Services MMC snap-in.
