You cannot start the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server service, and you receive an error message that mentions "service-specific error code 41520"

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server service, you receive the following error message:
Windows could not start the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server on Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 41520.
The SoftGrid Virtual Application Server service does not start. When this problem occurs, the following event is logged in the System log:
Event ID: 7024
Source: Service Control Manager
Type: Error
Description: The SoftGrid Virtual Application Server service terminated with service-specific error 41520.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you upgraded the server by using Remote Desktop Connection, and you did not use the /console switch.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, uninstall the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server. Then, re-install the same version of the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server. When you re-install the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server, use the /console switch. For example, use a command that resembles the following command:
%systemroot%\system32\mstsc.exe /v:servername /console
Note The uninstallation process will leave the database, the content directory, and the license file intact. Then, the installation process will detect the database, the content directory, and the license file.
