Error message when you try to refresh a Desktop Configuration Server from the Microsoft SoftGrid Client Management MMC snap-in: "Error code: xxxxxx-xxxxxx2A-0000274D"
SYMPTOMS
When you try to refresh a Desktop Configuration Server from the Microsoft SoftGrid Client Management Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in, you receive the following error message:
The SoftGrid Client could not update desktop configuration information from the server ServerName.
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
Error code: xxxxxx-xxxxxx2A-0000274D
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the SoftGrid Client cannot communicate with the Desktop Configuration Server port.
MORE INFORMATION
To verify the server and the port, follow these steps:
- In Administrative Tools, open the SoftGrid Client Management MMC snap-in.
- Click Desktop Configuration Servers.
- Right-click the server that reports the error code, and then click Properties.
- Verify the server that is specified in the Host Name box.
- Verify the port that is specified in the Port box.
If the server and the port are invalid, the refresh process fails.
If the server and the port are valid, verify that the following conditions are true:
-
The SoftGrid Virtual Applicaton Server service is started.
To verify this, follow these steps:
- In Administrative Tools, open the Services MMC snap-in.
- Locate SoftGrid Virtual Application Server in the Name column.
- Verify that the Status column reports Started.
- If the service is not started, right-click SoftGrid Virtual Application Server, and then click Start.
- If the service does not start, search the Microsoft Knowledge Base for the message that is reported.
- The client can telnet to the server name and to the server port.
To verify this, follow these steps:
- At a command prompt, type telnet ServerName Port , and then press ENTER. For example, type the following command:
telnet %SFT_SOFTGRIDSERVER% 554
-
If the connection succeeds, the window is blank. Press ENTER two times. You receive the following message:
RTSP/1.0 400 Bad Request
Server: Softricity SoftGrid Server/x.x.x.xxx [Win32; Windows NT x.x]
Date: xxx, xx xxx xxxx xx:xx:xx xxx
If the connection is unsuccessful, you receive the following messageCould not open connection to the host, on port 554: Connect failed
If the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server service is started but the client cannot telnet to the server, verify that port traffic between the client and the server is not restricted by a firewall or by other software. For more information, contact the network administrator.
