Support WebCast: Exploring the nuances of remote file encryption

Session Summary
Wednesday, December 06, 2006

This session provides an overview of encryption and discusses the requirements of remote encryption. It also talks about tools for the Encrypting File System (EFS), and EFS file sharing. The session will also focus on known issues and troubleshooting procedures for remote encryption issues.

This is a Level 300 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=gp;en-us;webcastlevels&sd=gn) session presented by Michael Hunter.

Michael Hunter started at Microsoft in January 1998. He began with the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, and now works for the Windows Server 2003 Directory Services team as a support escalation engineer. He is currently assigned to the Beta team for the Certificate Lifecycle Manager Beta 2 product. Before working for Microsoft, he was a CPA for the “Big Eight” accounting firm Arthur Young.

Tom Ausburne joined Microsoft in May 1998. He has been involved in Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 for the last five years. Tom currently works as a Directory Services support escalation engineer for Enterprise Platforms Support (EPS). His responsibilities include supporting Active Directory for Premier customers and developing and delivering training for other Directory Services support engineers.

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.

Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
