The minimum system requirements for Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends

INTRODUCTION

This article lists the minimum system requirements that a computer must have to run Microsoft Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends. Additionally, this article lists the supported and unsupported video hardware devices.

The following are the minimum system requirements for a computer to run Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends:
  • Microsoft Windows XP
  • A 1.4 gigahertz (GHz) processor
  • 256 megabytes (MB) of system RAM
  • A hard disk that has at least 3.3 gigabytes (GB) of available space
  • A 32x speed CD drive
  • A 64 MB video card that supports Hardware Transform and Lighting
  • An audio card and speakers or headphones
  • A Microsoft mouse or a compatible pointing device
  • A 56.6 kilobytes per second (KBps) or faster Internet connection for online play
  • DirectX 9.0c
Note You may experience increased performance on computers that exceed these requirements.

You can use the DirectX Diagnostic Tool to view the computer information and to verify that the computer meets the minimum required settings to run Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type dxdiag, and then click OK.
  2. On the System tab, view the processor details and the memory details.
  3. Click the Display tab.
  4. In the Device area, note the name of the video card and its approximate total memory.
  5. Click Exit.

Supported graphics hardware

To play Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends, your graphics hardware must have access to a minimum of 64 MB of memory. Additionally, your hardware must pass a system check when you start the game. If you received an error message that states that your video card is unsupported, contact the computer manufacturer to obtain a video card that is not listed in the "Unsupported graphics hardware" section.

Unsupported graphics hardware

When you start Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends, you may receive one of the following error messages:
Your video hardware is below the recommended minimum requirements for Rise of Legends. If you wish to upgrade your computer, please contact your computer manufacturer for any necessary assistance.
Your video hardware has been found to not work correctly with Rise of Legends and is currently unsupported. If you wish to upgrade your computer, please contact your computer manufacturer for any necessary assistance.
You may receive the second error message if your graphics hardware did not pass the system check and is not supported by Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends.

Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends requires that your video card supports the Hardware Transform and Lighting feature and has 64 MB or more of video memory. If your card does not meet these requirements, you receive these error messages. Additionally, you will have to upgrade your graphics hardware before you can play Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends.

Besides video cards that do not support Hardware Transform and Lighting or that do not contain 64 MB of video ram, the following video cards are incompatible with Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends:
  • XGI Volari
  • SiS Xabre
  • Intel 845
  • NVidia TNT2
