Text in an EMF+ or an EMF+ dual format drawing may be truncated when the text is printed in an Office 2003 program
On This Page
SYMPTOMS
You print an Enhanced Metafile (EMF+) format or an EMF+ dual format drawing from a custom program to a PostScript printer in one of the Microsoft Office 2003 programs that are listed in the "Applies to" section. When you do this, text may be truncated. This behavior may occur when any one of the following conditions is true:
- The text is contained in the EMF+ or the EMF+ dual format drawing.
- The text contains wildcard characters. The following table contains examples of wildcard characters.
Collapse this tableExpand this table
| Wildcard character | Description |
| ( | Opening parenthesis |
| ) | Closing parenthesis |
| , | Comma |
| " | Quotation mark |
| @ | At sign |
- The text is at the end of a line of text.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: Print to a PCL printer
When you print an EMF+ or an EMF+ dual format drawing from a custom program in one of the Office 2003 programs that are listed in the "Applies to" section, print to a PCL printer instead of to a PostScript printer.
Method 2: Create an EMF-only format drawing
Use the custom program to create an EMF-only format drawing instead of an EMF+ or an EMF+ dual format drawing. Then, print the EMF-only format drawing from one of the Office 2003 programs that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Office Excel 2003
- Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
- Microsoft Office Word 2003

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
