How to add a picture to a report in Microsoft Small Business Financials

INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to add a picture such as a logo to a report by using Report Writer in Microsoft Business Solutions Small Business Financials.

To add a picture to a report in Microsoft Small Business Financials, follow these steps:
  1. Copy a picture from a graphics program such as Microsoft Paint.

    Note The size of the picture must be 32 kilobytes or smaller. Additionally, the picture file must be a .bmp file or a .jpg file.
  2. Log on to Microsoft Small Business Financials as the system administrator user.
  3. On the Tools menu, click Modify Business Forms to start Report Writer.
  4. Click the report to which you want to add the picture, and then click Modify.

    Note The report to which you add the picture must be a graphic report. To make a report a graphic report, click to clear the Text Report check box in the Report Definition dialog box.
  5. On the Resources menu, click Pictures, and then click New in the Pictures dialog box.
  6. In the Picture Definition dialog box, type the name that you want to use for the picture in the Picture Name box, and then click the Picture area under the Picture Name box.
  7. On the Edit menu, click Paste, and then click OK.
  8. Close the Pictures dialog box.
  9. In the Toolbox dialog box, click Picture.
  10. Click Layout to open the Report Layout dialog box for the report, and then click the area where you want the picture to appear.
  11. In the Pictures dialog box, click the name of the picture that you want to add to the report, and then click OK. The picture appears in the Report Layout dialog box.
  12. Position the picture.
  13. Close the Report Layout dialog box, click Save in the prompt dialog box, and then click OK to close the Report Definition dialog box.
  14. On the File menu, click Microsoft Business Solutions Small Business Financials to close Report Writer.
If you have multiple computers that have Microsoft Small Business Financials installed and you want to use this modified report on those computers, you can repeat these steps to add the picture to the report on the other computers.

Alternatively, you can export this modified report on the first computer and then import the modified report on the other computers. To export the modified report, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Import/Export Reports.
  2. Click the report that you want to export, and then click Export.
  3. Click a destination for the package file, and then click Save.
To import the report modification on the other computers, follow these steps:
  1. Copy the package file to the local hard disk of one of the other computers.
  2. Start Microsoft Small Business Financials.
  3. On the Tools menu, click Import/Export Reports, and then click Import.
  4. Click Browse, and then click Local Files.
  5. Find the package file that you exported to the local hard disk of this computer, and then click Open.
  6. Click OK to import the package file.
  7. Close the Import/Export Reports dialog box.
  8. Repeat steps 1 through 7 on the remaining computers.
