Error message when you try to add a user account to Accounting Professional 2007 or to Small Business Accounting 2006: "Windows user or group not found"

SYMPTOMS

When you try to add a Microsoft Windows user account to Microsoft Office Accounting Professional 2007 or to Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006, you receive the following error message:

Windows user or group not found.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the Windows user account has been renamed since the user account was first added to Accounting Professional 2007 or to Small Business Accounting 2006.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, delete the renamed user account in Windows. Then, create a new user account.

Steps to reproduce the problem
  1. In Windows, create a new user account that is named Test.
  2. Add the user account that you created in step 1 to Accounting Professional 2007 or to Small Business Accounting 2006.
  3. Remove the user account from Accounting Professional 2007 or from Small Business Accounting 2006.
  4. In Windows, change the name of the user account to TestTest.
  5. Try to add the renamed user account to Accounting Professional 2007 or to Small Business Accounting 2006.
